MAZ populates your Google Analytics account with a variety of informative user engagement data about how users are interacting within your app. 

Google Analytics features include:

• Data visualization tools

• Segmentation for analysis of subsets, such as conversions

• Custom reports

MAZ sends several data points, called Events, to Google Analytics, including events related to content consumption, transactions/purchases made by the users(subscriptions or individual in-app purchases), some other events related to some specific features in the app, and events specific to Apple devices. Below, find the full list of data points that MAZ sends to Google Analytics for user engagement in your app:

Content Related Events

Articles

  • Article View (unlocked) - Event logged when a user reads and closes an article that is either free or has been unlocked. This is the cumulative total of all (unlocked) article opens in the app including articles opened by swiping or from search results or from the saved section. The (unlocked) parameter can apply to all other content events.

  • Article View (locked) - Event logged when a user closes an article after having read it using a metered preview. This is the cumulative total of all (locked) article opens in the app including articles opened by swiping or from search results. The (locked) parameter can apply to all other content events.

  • Article Read (25% or 50% or 75%) - Event logged when a user reads greater than X% of an article. Please note that these events are inclusive of each other (i.e. if a user reads 60% of an article, events for 25%, and 50% are logged).

  • Article Read to Completion - When a user reads an article in its entirety.

  • Article View from Swipe - When a user swipes (left or right) to navigate to an article.

  • Article View (search) - When a user opens an article directly from the search results window in the app.

  • Article View (saved) - When a user opens an article from his/her Saved items.

  • In-Article Link Open - When a user taps on a link from inside of an article.

PDF

  • PDF View (unlocked) - When a user reads and closes a PDF that is either free or has been unlocked.

  • PDF View (locked) - When a user reads and closes a PDF using a metered preview.

  • PDF View (offline) - When a user reads and closes a PDF that they had previously downloaded to their device.

Videos

  • Video Play (unlocked) - Event logged when a user watches and closes a video that is either free or has been unlocked. This is the cumulative total of all (unlocked) video plays in the app including Autoplay and Simulated Live feed's component videos.

  • Video Play (locked) - Event logged when a user closes a video after having watched it using a metered preview. This is the cumulative total of all (locked) video plays in the app including Autoplay and Simulated Live feed's component videos.

  • Video Played (25%, 50%, 75%) - When a user watches greater than X% of a video. Please note that these events are inclusive of each other (i.e. if a user watches 60% video, events for 25%, and 50% are logged).

  • Video Played to Completion - When a user watches a video in its entirety.

  • Video Autoplay - When a user watches a video till the end and allows the next video to begin playing automatically (applies to Simulated Live feed's component videos as well).

  • Video Play (search) - When a user plays a video directly from the app Search results.

  • Video Play (saved) - When a user plays a video from his/her Saved items.

  • Simulated Live Play (unlocked) - When a user navigates away from a playing simulated live feed that is either free or unlocked.

  • Simulated Live Play (locked) - When a user navigates away from a playing simulated live feed that is locked.

  • Live Play - When a user exits a playing livestream feed.

Images

  • Image View (unlocked) - When a user views and closes an image that is either free or unlocked.

  • Image View (locked) - When a user closes an image after having viewed it using a metered preview.

  • Image View from Swipe - When a user swipes left or right to navigate to an image.

Metering

  • Meter - Start - This data point gives you the specific item where a user began the metered preview of a locked feed.

  • Meter - Expire - This data point gives you the specific item where a user completed/exhausted the metered preview of a locked feed.

User Transaction Events

Purchases

  • Single Purchase - CTA (inactive) - When a user purchases a locked feed of content without activating(consuming any of) the metered preview.

  • Single Purchase - CTA (active) - When a user purchases a locked feed of content while the metered preview is in effect but not yet expired.

  • Single Purchase - CTA (expired) - When a user purchases a locked feed of content after the metered preview for that feed has completely expired.

  • Single Purchase - CTA - When a user purchases a locked feed of content that does not have a metered preview available.

  • Restore Purchases - Settings - When a user restores his/her app store purchases from the settings menu of the app.

  • Restore Purchases - Sub Section - When a user restores his/her app store purchases from the Subscription section of the app.

Subscriptions

  • Authenticated Access - When a user successfully authenticates his/her third-party subscription/membership inside of the app.

  • Authenticated Access Failure - When a user unsuccessfully attempts to authenticate his/her third-party subscription/membership in the app.

  • Authenticated Access Log Out - When a user logs out of his/her third-party subscription.

  • Sub Purchase - Sub Window - When a user purchases an in-app subscription from the overlay style (modal) subscription window.

  • Sub Purchase - Sub Section - When a user purchases an in-app subscription from the Subscription section of the app.

  • Sub Purchase - CTA (inactive) - When a user purchases a subscription from a content menu without activating the metered preview.

  • Sub Purchase - CTA (active) - When a user purchases a subscription from a content menu while his/her metered preview is in effect but not yet expired.

  • Sub Purchase - CTA (expired) - When a user purchases a subscription from a content menu after his/her metered preview has completely expired.

  • Secret Unlock - When a user unlocks all app content using a secret unlock code.

Registration

  • Register - When a user registers for a new save/sync account inside of the app using an email address, Facebook login, or Twitter login.

  • Log In - When a user logs into their app account.

  • Log Out - When a user logs out of their app account.

Banners

  • Banner View - When a user first sees a banner in a given section. This event only fires once for each banner while in the section, however, if a user leaves the section and then returns, a new Banner View event will fire.

  • Banner Action - When a user taps on a banner and activates a deeplink or web URL applied on the banner.

Ad events

  • Display Ad View (in feed) - When a DFP display ad impression is registered in feed menu.

  • Display Ad Action (in feed) - When a user taps on a DFP display ad.

  • Video Ad Play - When a video ad impression is registered.

  • Video Ad Skip - When a user skips a video ad (mobile only)

  • Sponsor Screen View - When a Sponsor Screen is displayed during the app launch.

  • Sponsor Screen Action - When a user taps on a Sponsor Screen link.

App Feature Events

Time in Feed

  • Time in Feed (locked) - When a user exits a locked content menu (go to Behavior > App Speed in Google Analytics dashboard for the amount of time spent (in seconds) navigating the feed).

  • Time in Feed (unlocked) - When a user exits an unlocked content menu (go to Behavior > App Speed in Google Analytics dashboard for the amount of time spent (in seconds) navigating the feed).

Downloads

  • Download - When a user downloads content to his/her device (PDF and hPub only).

  • Delete Download - When a user deletes a downloaded item from their device(not applicable when deleting from app settings menu).

Search

  • Search Query - When a user taps on a search result (will display the exact search term used).

  • Search - When a user utilizes the in-app search function.

Save

  • Save - When a user saves an item to his/her Saved section.

  • Archive from Saved/Queue - When a user removes an item from his/her Saved section.

Share

  • Share from Content - When a user shares an item from inside of the content view (video, article, image, PDF, etc).

  • Share from Feed - When a user shares a piece of content directly from the feed instead of from inside that content.

  • Share Destination - The app or site that a user shares content to/through.

  • Clippings (Scissor) Button - When a user taps on the scissors button inside of the content view.

  • Clippings Gesture - When a user makes a clipping gesture (two-finger tap) on a content item.

  • Clippings Share - When a user shares a clipping.

Notifications

  • Notification Open - When a user opens the app directly from a push notification.

  • Notification Save - When a user Saves deeplinked content directly from a push notification.

  • Notification Share - When a user Shares deeplinked content directly from a push notification.

Apple Specific Events/iOS Features

  • 3D Touch - Peek - When a user activates the Peek iOS functionality inside of the app.

  • 3D Touch - Pop - When a user activates the Pop iOS functionality inside of the app.

  • 3D Touch - Quick Actions - When a user long presses content to bring up the Quick Actions iOS menu inside of the app.

  • Widget Open - When a user opens a piece of content from your iOS Widget feed.

Apple Watch

  • View on Watch - When an article is opened on the Apple Watch.

  • Save on Watch - When an article is saved on the Apple Watch.
